Memorial

We would like to dedicate the 2009 Portlaoise Charity Truck Show to the honour & memory of the late Ross O’Donovan from Bandon, Co. Cork who was tragically taken from us earlier this year. To a friend & colleague you will be dearly missed. We will be making a presentation to his family on behalf of the show & the O’Donovan family are presenting a memorial plaque to the show which will be given to the best kept truck every year.

Ross O’Donovan (R.I.P.)

Ross O’Donovan was a kind, funny, loving and caring person. He was a loving son to Con and Mairead. He was a wonderful caring brother to Caroline, Jennifer, Gary and Eamonn. He also loved and cared for his three nephews Adam, Olan and Killian so much so, that he was a loving Godfather to Olan.  He was also friendly with his brother in-law Barry, with Dave McCarthy, Caroline Nolan and Jennifer Mc Sweeney. Ross was a great friend to Séan Allen, Louise McCarthy, his fellow truckers and to anyone that knew him.

His love for his trucks started when he was a little boy. The first thing on the list to Santa was trucks. He started driving at the age of 17 and bought his first car soon after. He made many friends over the years on the road and it was through his travelling that he got involved in the truck shows. He spent the weekends cleaning and polishing the truck for the shows. His friends knew that trucking was his life. His life was short but happy.
